Rhianna Patrick is a Torres Strait Islander woman with over 20 years as a media professional. She has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Queensland in 1999 with a double major in journalism and has  worked across Indigenous media, communications, radio, television documentaries and news and  currently presents a national programme broadcast out of Brisbane every Sunday night at  6:30pm on ABC Radio. Patrick has worked on the Indigenous television program Message Stick in various roles including as an Associate Producer/Researcher. She produced, directed and wrote A Close Shave (2002) a documentary on a young Torres Strait Islander boy; directed Coming of the Light (2006); wrote Troubled Waters (2007) and was co-writer of Stylin'up] (2007) all part of the Message Stick series. For 5 years until early 2014 Patrick hosted Speaking Out on radio before she moved to Brisbane to act as stand-in host of Afternoon in south-east Queensland. She also presented stories on Awaye! Radio Nationals indigenous arts and culture radio programme in 2014 and iIn 2017 she presented a radio series on Sunday evenings which included the discussion of films, music, nostalgia, and current news topics and playing music. Patrick has appeared at two events for the 2017 Brisbane Writers Festival in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and sits on the board of Qmusic – Queensland’s peak music development organisation which runs BIGSOUND in addition to presenting a national Sunday night programme on ABC Radio. Rhianna is a descendant of the Zagareb and Wagadagam clans of the Torres Strait.
